Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-26
This Privacy Policy covers every app published by Crate. The shared platform sections apply to all Crate apps. The per-app sections at the bottom document what each specific app collects.
If you only read one section, read this: Crate apps do not ask for your name, email, date of birth, or any other identifying information. Each app is keyed to an anonymous account that lives only on your device. Your in-app data is stored against that anonymous ID, never against you personally.
What we collect (shared platform)
Every Crate app shares the same backend platform. The data described in this section is collected by every Crate app you install. App-specific data (photos, scan content, etc.) is documented per app at the bottom of this page.
| Data | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous user ID (a UUID created the first time you launch any Crate app) | To tie your in-app data to "you" without collecting a name, email, or phone number | Crate Studio Supabase project. Synced across Crate apps via iCloud Keychain so subscriptions follow you |
| Subscription status (whether you have an active app-specific Pro or Studio Pro subscription) | To unlock paid features on this device and on any other Crate app you install | RevenueCat, keyed to your anonymous Studio user ID |
| App install events (timestamp, app name, platform) | To show "Get this app free with Studio Pro" cross-promo on first launch in a sibling app you don't yet have | Crate Studio Supabase. No device fingerprint, no advertising ID |
| Notification preferences (which categories are on or off) | To send only the reminders you opted into | Per-app Supabase database + your device |
| Notification token (an Expo Push token if you allowed notifications) | To deliver scheduled reminders and insight alerts | Your device and Expo's notification service |
| Crash reports and analytics (which screens you visited, anonymous device class, build version, error stack traces) | To find and fix bugs, and to understand which features are useful | Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics, keyed to a Firebase installation ID, not to your anonymous user data |
| Email address (only if you explicitly enter one in the "Email me my result" or marketing-opt-in flow) | To deliver the result you asked for, or to send periodic Crate updates if you opted in | Loops.so via Crate Studio Supabase. You can unsubscribe with one tap from any email |
We do not collect:
- Your name, date of birth, address, phone number, or government-issued ID
- Your location, contacts, calendar, microphone audio, or motion data
- Behavioral data outside the app (we do not track you on websites or in other apps)
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA, GAID)
How we use it
- To deliver app features. Each app's specific data flow is documented in the per-app sections below.
- To run AI analysis. When an app sends content to an AI model, it goes through our Supabase Edge Function proxy to Anthropic's Claude API. The proxy returns the structured result and does not retain the input. Anthropic does not train models on this data per Anthropic's commercial usage policy.
- To send reminders you asked for. Notifications are scheduled locally on your device and never leave it.
- To improve the app. Anonymous crash reports and feature-usage events help us prioritize fixes. These are tied to a Firebase installation ID, not to your in-app data or any personal identifier.
- To cross-promote sibling apps. If you have one Crate app, we may show a one-time card for a sibling app on launch. The card is dismissible and the cross-promo state is keyed to your anonymous Studio user ID, not to any third-party identifier.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertising networks, marketing data brokers, or analytics resellers.
Third parties named
Crate apps use the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy.
- Supabase (Supabase Inc.): database, photo and content storage, anonymous authentication. supabase.com/privacy
- Anthropic (Anthropic PBC): Claude API for AI analysis, image understanding, and protocol generation. anthropic.com/legal/privacy
- RevenueCat (RevenueCat Inc.): subscription state management. revenuecat.com/privacy
- Google Firebase (Google LLC): crash reports and anonymous analytics. firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Expo (Expo Inc.): push notification delivery for apps where you enabled notifications. expo.dev/privacy
- Loops.so (Loops Inc.): email delivery for "Email me my result" and Crate newsletter, if you opted in. loops.so/privacy
- Apple (Apple Inc.): subscription billing and App Store purchase records. apple.com/legal/privacy
- Google (Google LLC): subscription billing and Play Store purchase records for Android apps. policies.google.com/privacy
No other third party receives data tied to your anonymous Crate Studio user ID.
How long we keep your data
- Your in-app content (photos, scans, plan data, etc.) stays in your account until you delete it or request a wipe. There is no automatic expiry, except where noted in per-app sections below.
- Crash reports and analytics events are kept for up to 90 days, then aggregated into anonymous trend data and the underlying event removed.
- Subscription records are retained by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat for as long as required by their own policies and applicable tax law.
- Email opt-in records are kept as long as you remain subscribed plus 30 days after unsubscribe (for compliance with deliverability verification).
How to delete your data
You have these options. All are immediate and irreversible.
- Delete one item. In the relevant app: open the item from History (or equivalent) and tap "Delete." This removes that item, its source data, and any AI insights tied to it.
- Delete one app's data. Settings → Privacy → "Delete all my data." This wipes every item, plan data, and your anonymous user record from that app's storage. It also cancels any scheduled notifications and removes locally stored data on your device.
- Delete EVERY Crate app's data. Email privacy@crate-app.com with a one-line request. Because the account is anonymous we cannot look you up by name, but we can wipe all anonymous accounts created from your Apple ID, including subscription history, the cross-app install record, and any marketing-list entries. We will respond within 30 days.
Deletion does not reverse any in-app purchase. Subscription refunds are governed by Apple's or Google's refund policy and must be requested directly from them.
Your notification choices
If you enabled notifications during onboarding or in Settings of a Crate app, you can change your mind at any time:
- In any Crate app: Settings → Notifications. Toggle individual reminder types on or off.
- On iOS: Settings → Notifications → [App name]. Disable any category.
- On Android: Settings → Apps → [App name] → Notifications.
We do not send marketing pushes or third-party-content notifications. Every push notification a Crate app sends is one you opted into. Crate newsletter emails, separately, are opt-in-only and one-click-unsubscribable.
Subscription billing
App-specific Pro subscriptions and the cross-app Studio Pro subscription are sold and billed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not receive your payment method, card number, or billing address. We receive only the subscription state (active, in trial, expired) from RevenueCat, keyed to your anonymous Crate Studio user ID.
Free trials are available on annual plans. A payment method is required at sign-up for any trial. The trial converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Manage or cancel in App Store Settings or Google Play Subscriptions.
Children
Crate apps are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a person under 13 has provided data to us, email privacy@crate-app.com and we will delete the account.
Security
All data is transmitted using standard TLS (HTTPS). Supabase stores content with at-rest encryption. We do not claim end-to-end encryption: our proxy that sends content to Anthropic has access to it for the duration of the analysis call. After the call returns, the proxy does not retain the content.
Crate has not been audited under SOC 2, ISO 27001, or HIPAA. HIPAA does not apply to Crate apps because we do not collect protected health information as defined by HIPAA (no name, no date of birth, no medical record linkage). If your use case requires a HIPAA-compliant tool, Crate apps are not it.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect, who we share it with, or how to delete it, we will update this page and update the date at the top. Material changes will also be announced in-app on next launch. The current effective date is at the top of this page.

For privacy questions, deletion requests, or to report a concern, email privacy@crate-app.com.
For everything else (subscription help, app questions, bug reports), email support@crate-app.com.
